IFHE (est. 1908) is a politically independent and secular international non-profit organization. It is registered under German law and financed by membership fees and donations.
A honorary president and regionally balanced executive committee form the organization’s leadership. A delegate assembly (Council) meets every two years, and the General Secretariat in Bonn manages every-day operations.

IFHE traces its beginnings to an international congress in Switzerland 1908. The congress aimed at attracting attention to the value of domestic work and education for women.
Despite the difficulties in communication, the event attracted 750 participants from 20 countries. A feeling of shared purpose led to the establishment of IFHE and still carries us along today.
