2015 World Food Day Poster Contest: Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty

The Civil Society Team, Office of Partnerships, Advocacy and Capacity Development (OPC), FAO in Italy are pleased to announce that the theme of 2015 World Food Day is "Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty".

Every year, in the occasion of World Food Day (WFD), FAO organises a Poster Contest for students. Students worldwide (5-17 years old) are encouraged to draw a poster illustrating the World Food Day theme. Since its launch in 1991 the FAO Poster Contest has inspired thousands of children worldwide, making them aware of the work we do to eradicate hunger and poverty in the world.

2015 WFD Poster Contest is now open to participate. New features this year:

  • The wining posters will be displayed at Expo Milano 2015, in the occasion of   the World Food Day.
  • The top three entries in each age group will also receive a commemorative medal from FAO 70th Anniversary.

To explain what social protection is to schoolchildren, students and teachers, we have prepared cartoons and briefs. Teachers, schoolchildren and students will be able to access this material on the dedicated WFD Poster Contest Website that is available in all languages.

Please click here - for your background - a letter in the FAO language English that is addressed to schools to invite them to enter the Contest

Join us in advocating for the crucial role social protection plays in eradicating hunger and poverty!
