The NGO Committee on Ageing - Vienna - August 2015

"Recommandations for Decision Makers to promote Active Ageing in a Society for All Ages"

This publication has two distinct particularities that are worth wile to emphasize right at the beginning for better understanding of the meaningfulness of this booklet. In the first place it expresses the opinion of a great number of important international civil society organisations that represent older persons in our society and advocate for their needs or preoccupations. This means that it represents the voice of those directly concerned by right or wrong policies and the practical consequences of decision-making. They take the certainly most justified liberty to give advice to those who shape policies and take decisions in various fields that affect directly or indirectly the life of older persons under the motto "Nothing on us without us"...

Author of the document:  Dirk JARRÉ, President of the European Federation of Older Persons, EURAG

The Commission on the Status of Women - November 2014

Geneva NGO Forum on Beijing+20 UN ECE Review

Declaration and Recommendations

5th November 2014

"Every Woman, Every Right, Every Minute, Everyone is Responsible: and the Time is Now"

The 700 participants in our diversity from around 350 groups, networks, and institutions and 56 countries, of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe region, gathered in Geneva from 3rd - 5th November 2014 for the NGO Forum review of the Beijing Platform for Action and recommendations for the future.

The 1995 Beijing Platform for Action for Equality, Development and Peace was a historic political commitment to women’s rights and empowerment to advance gender equality and take forward the ethos of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

The Beijing message, building upon the prior international conferences on women; population and environment was clear, to the point and relevant today as 20  years ago: Women’s rights and gender equality are central to the world’s attainment of equality, sustainability, development and peace.
