IFHE holds consultative status with the United Nations. We work with other NGOs and  participate in UN initiatives to address multi-dimensional economic, social and ecological aspects that are key to achieving a quality of life for all and to advocate education for the responsible use of resources.

FAO World Food Day(16 October): Home Economics is essential to sustainable food systems. IFHE calls for the integration of home economics into curricula for all sexes

COVID19 - Building Back Better! IFHE calls on 193 member states to renew their commitment to the UN and to turn the current crisis into an opportunity to build better world for all.

IFHE takes UN Days as an occasion to raise awareness for home economics concerns. Examples are WHO Food Safety Day, International Day of Families or World Poplation Day.


HeForSheAtHome Campaign

IFHE supports the United Nations global solidarity movement for gender equality. See their #HeForSheAtHome campaign launched to hightlight the unfair COVID-19 burden on women.

ZHC is a network to achieve collective impact in the area of food security, nutrition and sustainable food systems.

International Year of the Family (IYF) Campaign

IFHE was actively involved in the planning of the IYF, established by the UN in 1994. Since then, we run campaigns on the occasion of IYF decennial anniversaries. The 20th anniversary campaign led to a publication on Family Socioeconomic and Cultural Issues.
