IFHE holds consultative status with the United Nations. We work with other NGOs and participate in UN initiatives to address multi-dimensional economic, social and ecological aspects that are key to achieving a quality of life for all and to advocate education for the responsible use of resources.

IFHE was actively involved in the planning of the IYF, established by the UN in 1994. Since then, we run campaigns on the occasion of IYF decennial anniversaries. The 20th anniversary campaign led to a publication on Family Socioeconomic and Cultural Issues.
