IFHE welcomes new members

We are happy to announce that IFHE expanded its membership base into China and welcome the Jiangsu Association of Home Economics (JAHE) and the Chinese Federation of Home Economics (CFHE) as new organisational members, as well as Georgia Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (GAFCS) in the US. We also extend a warm welcome to 27 new individual members from 12 countries who joined IFHE since October 2018.

Acting President Gwendolyn HUSTVEDT in office. President-Elect Gwendolyn HUSTVEDT was nominated Acting President after the untimely passing of President Sidiga WASHI in October 2018. Gwendolyn will take over and head the organisation until the befinning of her official four-year term as President in 2020.

With deepest regret, we say good-bye to IFHE President Prof. Sidiga WASHI (2016 - 2018) who suddenly passed away on 3rd October 2018. The IFHE and its members have not only lost a passionate and inspiring leader in the field of Home Economics, they also mourn a strong, intelligent and diplomatic woman, modest for herself and always looking after others’ well-being. Her premature passing is a great loss for her family, the Ahfad University for Women and all IFHE Members around the world. The Federation has lost a President whose area of influence spanned the globe.

We also mourn the loss of long standing IFHE members  Joanne MACKIE (Canada), Anna-Lise STRØJER (Denmark) and Florentine MC COY, Antigua and Barbuda. Please find a recognition of their accomplishments in the Members Area.
