Annual Meetings serve as the federation's networking hub, offer plenary discussions and working sessions. Every second year, they include a meeting of the Council (delegates assembly), the federation's decision making body. Annual Meetings are hosted by IFHE member organisations.

In normal times, the biennial Council would have been held during the World Congress 2020 in Atlanta, USA. Instead, IFHE set up its first ever virtual Council which was successfully held end of August 2020. Almost 70 delegates from all over the world registered for this special event, took decisions and adopted a resolution on Home Economics education.

We are glad to announce that Gwendolyn HUSTVEDT is the new IFHE President 2020-2024. Gwendolyn had been elected President-Elect at the March 2018 Council and stepped in as Acting President in October 2018 after the passing of late President Sidiga WASHI. Gwendolyn also chairs the newly composed Executive Committee.

The IFHE Distinguished Service Award honours long-standing members for their outstanding contribution to IFHE and the profession as such. We are proud to announce that the 2020 award goes to Margaret Edwards ARCUS.
