The Jamaican Home Economics Association takes great pleasure in inviting you to attend the 22nd Biennial Conference of the Caribbean Association of Home Economists Inc. from the 8th - 12th April 2017 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The theme of the Conference is "Home Economics: Future-proofing families for 21st century Living".

It promises to be rich experience and one that will stir us to move our profession forward as we continue to make a significant impact in the lives of Caribbean families. The keynote speaker for the conference is Professor Donna PENDERGAST, Dean and Head of the School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University, Australia, and prolific writer of Home Economics literature.

First Lady Michelle OBAMA and the fight ahainst childhood obesity:
Michelle OBAMA's "Let's Move" campaign - with its emphasis on improving the quality of food and beverage in the schools and the community - is a welcome and historic step. Better Choices in schools will ultimately have limited effects if children do not have the ability to make better choices in the outside-school world.
IFHE members may be interested to know that huge amounts of federal dollars are going to obesity research through the U.S. Department of Agriculture
