Home Economics Education in New Zealand - A Position Statement

The paper was commissioned in the context of the New Zealand Curriculum/Marautanga project. The purpose of this paper is too:

  1. provide an outline of the understandings (Nationally and internationally) of what contemporary home economics education is
  2. clarify the location of home economics within the draft materials for health and physical and other learning areas
  3. identify its relationship to the key competencies
  4. identify barriers and enablers pertaining to students learning related to home economics.
