United Kingdom

University:

  1. Consumer Studies/Home Economics/Retailing: Consumer Studies covers a wide range of consumer topics and prepares students for careers as managers, and home economist in in industry and public sector, as well as qualifying them for entry to a variety of post-graduate courses (this may include the 1 year post graduate certificate of education for teachers of Home Economics). The options within the courses include Retailing, Textile Studies and Food Studies/Product Development, as well as Home Economics. A range of subjects, both arts and science, is acceptable for entry but English, Mathematics and Chemistry are particularly useful.
  2. Course Titles: Dip HE/HND/HNC - Diploma in Higher Education/Higher National Diploma (2 years) and Higher National Certificate (1 year). BA/MA - Bachelor of Arts/Master of Arts (3, 4 or 5 years with Honours options) and BSC - Bachelor of Science (3, 4 or 5 years with Honours options).
  3. Some courses have a sandwich option, they include a period of time spent on placement in industry.


Colleges:

HN/HND Courses: Higher National Certificate/Higher National Diploma courses in Consumer Studies/Home Economics/Retailing are available at specific colleges.
