Finland

Basic Education:

In Finland, Home Economics is a compulsory school subject for all pupils on 7th grade of basic education. As optional subject it is offered on 8th and 9th grade. Home Economics education includes both theory and practice: pupils learn the basic skills of cooking, for example.

Vocational upper secondary education:

Several vocational-upper-secondary schools offer degrees in the fields of Home Economics or Consumer Services.

Several Universities of Applied Sciences/Polytechnics in Finland offer degrees in Hospitality Management.

Consumer Economics - University of Helsinki, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry

Courses of studies: Consumer Economics, Food Economics, Agricultural Economics and Policy, Marketing and Environmental Economic.

These courses are not in fact courses in Home Economics. Courses are in: Household Resources, Consumer, Family and Society, Family and Property Legislation, and Consumer Sociology.
